DESCRIPTION:Ecologist\, Catherine Koehler\, is the next presenter in the Distinguished Speaker Series at Marymount California University ~ Lakeside Campus on Thursday\, April 7\, 6:00 -7:30 pm. Her topic is the Fascinating Native Grasslands in this series on the Natural Environment of Lake County.  A $5 donation will benefit a scholarship fund for students attending the Lakeside Campus. MCU is located in Lucerne at 3700 County Club Drive.  Koehler\, Executive Director of the Lake County Land Trust and Director of the University of California McLaughlin Reserve in eastern Lake County\, will talk about the grasslands of the region - their current state and what they may have been like before the introduction of species from other continents. She will include an overview of the diversity of plant communities which support the remarkable biological diversity that merits the classification of our region by conservation biologists and ecologists as a "global biological hot spot".  The speaker series is co-sponsored by the Lake County Land Trust and the Friends of Marymount California University Lakeside.
